The splats have landed :-D

(Sorry, your going to have to wait for photo's....they are both still a little skittish and I don't want to do anything that will upset them!!)

We collected them from the cattery yesterday at about 1o.30am (Yes, we were up at the crack of dawn to get to London for that time!!) and then they had to endure a two and a half hour drive before we could introduce them to their new home. There was not a peep out of Gai the entire journey....Lugs, however, miaowed for the whole two and a half hours!! (We discovered early on that if we spoke to him he just miaowed louder so we ended up having to just try and ignore him...poor wee soul!!)

Awww, they were terrified when they first arrived!! Gai managed to find the only part of the house the hoover can't reach....behind the wood burning stove!! When we finally managed to entice him out with cat treats he emerged completely gray with cobwebs on his head and hanging from his whiskers!! (He did look very funny!!). They spent the first few hours hiding in their climbing frame then Lugs slowly came out and started having a wee sniff around (I was quite surprised that he was the first....he's terrified of everything....including himself!!). At this point I was starting to get quite worried about Gai because he wouldn't even let us near him.....I needn't have worried. Once he saw Lugs out and about he decided he would come out too....when he got to my chair he suddenly stopped and stared at me, (honestly, you could almost see the penny dropping) he then jumped up on the chair, started purring like a wee maniac and proceded to try and eat my hair!! (It was so sweet...his wee body was quivering he was so excited!!). Then, still purring like a wee maniac, he stopped trying to eat my hair, looked at Chris, jumped off the chair, went straight over to him, lay down on his foot and started rolling about in a 'pat me pat me' kind of way!! He's been absolutely fine ever since!!

The two of them ate breakfast this morning and have been chasing each other up and down the stairs ever since so I think they are going to be fine!!

I'm sitting here listening to them thundering about!! How can two cats make so much noise??

  11. Lane - I currently have a purring cat sitting on my foot and another one eyeing up my fingers as I'm typing!! (this could go horribly wrong).

He was so sweet and it was so funny :-D

Sue - The house feels like home now...it's lovely :-D

Queenie - hehehehe, Chris said I looked like I was about to cry (I am happy to say that I didn't...I managed to keep it together by distracting myself with my glass of wine!!)

Pat - It's fab to have them galumphing about the house!!

MOB - Hehehe, Gai is not the brightest cat in the world but he's certainly a wee sweetie!! It's good to have the weans home (yeah, we'll see how long that lasts...have already had to clean up cat yak....lovely!!)

JJ - Hehehe, even though Gai has lost weight we discovered today that his bum is still too big to fit through the small holes in the cat tree. Twas very funny watching him try to squeeze through :-D

Absolute Vanilla - They are not letting either of us out of their sight...everywhere I go one or other of them is following me. It's very odd trying to pee when you have an audience!!

French Fancy - I came very close but, as I said to Queenie, I managed to distract myself with wine!!

The house does feel complete now and it's lovely to hear them padding about and chasing each other.

Debs - I don't think I will ever forget it....we really could see the exact moment that he worked out who we were :-D

Ladyfi - It's wonderful that they are home...hahaha.....Gai had fallen asleep while I was typing this...he's just woken himself up by snoring and is now looking at me as if it was my fault!! I had forgotten just how funny they are!!

  12. I love cat stories. Unfortunately, mine passed away a couple of years ago after a fifteen year partnership. We had some great times and yours sound like they are going to give you just as much joy!

  15. Okay, maybe I have been eating too many magic mushrooms, maybe the heat has finally sent me Lady Gaga ( oh jeez anything but that ), maybe I am not quite away yet, or even awake, or maybe, I have posted it somewhere else, so will try again.

Glad your wee family is back together, so happy you have lost so much weight, you have a house that is clean apart from one small place, jeez.
Loved how the story of Gai, his little body quivering when he realised he was home, was quite beautiful to read

  16. Kevin - It's awful when they go because it really is like loosing a member of the family!!

Our two are wee characters and it really is lovely to have them home again :-)

DJ - Hehehe, so you can imagine how I felt!! (was so proud of myself for not crying!!).

Ooohhh your splats are on facebook? Right, once I've written this I'm going to log in for a nosey :-)

Hope you get your computer back soon!!

Lindsay - I am over the moon that they are back!!

My nickname at school was Red...which doesn't sound too bad till I say it was after the character Red in fraggle rock!! (My hair had a red tinge to it and aparently I looked like a fraggle because it stuck out all over the place!!)

Ann - Chris has been having problems accessing my blog and I know that both DJ and my Mum have had problems with comments vanishing. (Chris reckons that it's got something to do with Twitter so I'm going to remove it today and see if that makes any difference!!). Don't worry....you've not turned Lady Gaga...at least not yet....

Yay for splats coming home :-), for loosing weight and for having a clean house (well, Gai cleaned the bit the hoover won't reach so I can now say that my house is officially clean....our white cat is now grey but hey, can't have everything!!)

  18. BT - It's great having them back...although I wasn't saying that at 4 o'clock this morning when Gai was trying to wake me up by licking my eyelids!!

They are such wee characters...I had forgotten just how lovely it is to have them about!!

  21. Oh that's okay then, I will go back to eating the magic mushrooms, prancing about in front of a full length mirror, with hairbrush in hand, pretending to be Lady Gaggy.

  22. Ann - You really must start a blog you know!!! I need to see photographs of you doing that :-)

  23. I remember when I went to pick up Monty. He was such a lovely cat and I still miss him. He was so playful and loved to chew my hair!

So pleased your two have settled so quickly. One day, when I am settled in my own home with my children we shall have cats again I hope. Enjoy yours, they are such lovely creatures :)

    PS, can't wait for pics!

  24. Suburbia - They really do become members of the family don't they!! Why do they do the chewing hair thing? (My hair is bad enough without having a cat gnawing at it!!)

It'll happen before you know it and then I'll be reading about your wee purring bundles of fun :-)

Hehehe, took some today so will probably post them tomorrow!!
