Quick update on Chris's Birthday

We had a lovely weekend!!

On Saturday night I took him to a local restaurant called 'The Vine Tree' which had been recommended by a friend!! We were not disappointed....the food was fantastic!!

I bought him a limited edition Dr Who Master's Fob Watch

a limited edition copy of 'The Legend of Sigurd and Gudrun' by J.R.R. Tolkien. It's leather bound and beautiful to look at!!

and his last present arrived today (I'm safe to post about it now....he's on his way home from the office). I used MyPublisher and created a book of his best photo's (I was inspired by the Fall Colours idea). I used songs with colours in their titles that were released in 1969.....I opened the package earlier and the book looks great!! (I've wrapped it up so can't post any photo's yet but I will once he's opened it!!)

On Sunday, we had a lovely relaxing day....went to the pub in the afternoon and then I cooked a three course Moroccan meal and we spent the evening eating and drinking.

We're looking forward to seeing everyone in Scotland in a few weeks where we will be having another celebration!!

  7. Kevin - LOL!! He's not an easy person to buy for so I had to wrack my brains to come up with something that he would like but wouldn't buy for himself!!

Mark - Ooohhh thanks for the recommendations :-). The Vine Tree was wonderful so I look forward to trying those out!!

MOB - That is a lovely thing to say...thank you :-). I just wanted to get him something that no-one else would...he's been a Dr Who fan for years (used to watch it from behind the sofa when he was a kid) so I thought the watch was a good present, the Tolkien book he would probably have bought the paperback for himself so I got the limited edition because I knew he wouldn't and the photo book was something he would never have thought of doing and I knew he would be pleased with it!!

We're meeting up with friends and family in Glasgow and going for a curry in Merchant City...yum!!

DJ - Hehehe, I will take a few photo's of it and post them. 'My Publisher' was surprisingly easy to use and the printing is spot on (It's beautifully bound and the cover is black linen)....you should have seen the look on his face when he opened the present and saw his photo on the front of the book *Big happy smile*

French Fancy - Awww thanks hon. As I said to MOB, I just like trying to come up with things that are unusual and that the person probably wouldn't buy for themselves :-). I can't really take credit for the photo book idea...it was the Fall colours blog thing that gave me the idea!!

Lily - I was really pleased with the way it turned out and it wasn't very expensive to do!! (Although I did spend hours going through all the photo's and then tying to get them into a layout I was happy with!!)

LadyFi - It was great. I downloaded the programme and followed the instructions....doddle!! I'll post some photographs once I find my camera :-)

Amanda - It was gorgeous!! We're going to take our friend Tom there for his 40th in December.

Debs - It was lovely...nice and relaxing...well, relaxing for Chris anyway!! He got a home made birthday cake, breakfast in bed and a three course meal cooked for him...I was knackered!!

Juniper - I'm really pleased with how the book came out...I will definitely consider doing another one at some point :-)

The meal was yummy but I still wish I had seen your blog before I got all the ingredients...I would have made your walnut and pomegranate salad to go with it!!
